Gallery of Drinks 2

This is a Montepulciano D'Abruzzo. Modest in price, under $15, and available at Shawn Liquors on 7th Avenue where Andrew, The sommelier in residence (with the coke-bottle eye glasses and the Jerry Lewis voice) has rarely steered me wrong. It went beautifully with the rib steak at its side. I ate the whole steak myself with two glasses of the wine. The perfect antidote to Halloween's sickly-sweetness.

Gallery of Drinks

This is the first in a series.
By the way, I just finished this one.

This is a well-made vodka tonic. Fill a tall narrow glass with nicely-shaped ice cubes. Pour in (at least) 2 oz. of vodka, squeeze a small wedge of lime over the vodka then fill the glass with tonic, preferably pre-chilled Schweppes from a small glass bottle. Add a fresh piece of lime to garnish. Drink.

Of course, a gin and tonic is always superior, but alas, I have drunk all the gin in the house, including the miniature bottle of Sapphire Bombay that recently came in a "tony benefit" gift bag.

What Goes here?

What? you say you think Mr. C is being drawn to a powerful magnet being wielded by Mr. B? (you can click the picture to make it bigger)
WRONG FOLKS.

At assembly this AM we were treated to a charming exhibition of "boys will be boys" Brit-style. And we loved every minute of it! The item on the string is a chestnut. The "boys" are attempting to crush each others nuts.
The game is called conkers? or konkers? or conquers! Yes that's it.
Mr. B was crowned champion nut-crusher.
